The Devil Wears Prada guitarist to sit out part of As I Lay Dying tour
Guitarist Chris Rubey of the Dayton, Ohio Christian metalcore band The Devil Wears Prada will miss part of the group's tour with As I Lay Dying and will be temporarily replaced by For Today axeman Sam Penner. Said Rubey: "[I] wanted to make everyone aware that I'll be staying home for a portion of our current tour with As I Lay Dying to take care of my newborn. Samuel Penner from For Today will be filling in for the time being and we're very glad to have him. I'll be back as soon as possible, and I hope you all can go check out a show!"
The Devil Wears Prada's nationwide co-headlining trek with As I Lay Dying gets underway February 22 at Ventura, California's Majestic Ventura Theater Half House and continues through early April. The Devil Wears Prada and As I Lay Dying will be accompanied on the road by For Today, The Color Morale (February 22 - March 7), and The Chariot (March 8 - April 4).
The Devil Wears Prada has inked a deal with Roadrunner Records. The group — vocalist Mike Hranica, Rubey, rhythm guitarist Jeremy DePoyster, bassist Andy Trick, and drummer Daniel Williams — will make its label debut with an as-yet-untitled new Lp, executive-produced by Adam Dutkiewicz of Killswitch Engage with producer/engineer Matt Goldman, expected to arrive fall 2013.
The Devil Wears Prada's latest album, "Dead Throne", sold 32,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 10 on The Billboard 200 chart.
